Loughton Valley Park
Milton Keynes, With it’s One Hundred and Ninety miles of footpaths, (Redways)
With three thousand acres of parkland, Canals, Rivers. Fifteen lakes, an abundance of wildlife and around Twenty Million Trees, most people who live here are just a short walk away from a country atmosphere.
All of this has been put in place or preserved by the planners and cared for by the Local Council and Milton Keynes Parks Trust.
Two Mile Ash is just north of Lodge Lake  (below) the lower of the five Teardrop balancing Lakes, and Loughton Village another of the original old Buckinghamshire villages, The lakes collect the rain and flood water from as far away as Bletchley..
It then runs into Loughton Brook   which is also known locally as the river Lovat.
Enhanced by the use of shrubs such as dogwood with it’s striking reds,  yellows and green (don’t plant it in your garden)  even in winter this makes the Loughton Valley Park area one of the most picturesque in the new “City”.
Every year we have letters in the local papers from people complaining about “the council” cutting down trees and shrubs but never a comment when spring comes along and the coppiced area’s put out new shoots and look beautiful again.
Without proper management the whole area would become overgrown and the strongest plants would take over.
